Patch testing can be performed using a limited series of allergens or using a more extensive customized series of allergens. Dr. Ehrlich performs patch testing with multiple allergen series and tries to personalize the testing experience for each patient. She regularly tests patients who have experienced recurrent rashes and have difficulty with wearing cosmetics or problems with medical devices. She has been director of a referral patch testing clinic in the metro DC area for the past 17 years and has published and lectured extensively on contact dermatitis. Her publications on contact dermatitis include recommendations on specialized trays for vaginal, stoma, and shoe dermatitis. She is an active member of the American Contact Dermatitis Society and continually adapts her testing materials as allergens evolves.

Aesthetic laser treatments can easily, and effectively treat many benign skin lesions painlessly, on an out-patient basis. The four main types of lasers used to treat various skin conditions are: argon, pulsed-dye, neodymium:YAG and carbon dioxide.

Botox Cosmetic actually prevents facial wrinkles from appearing by relaxing the underlying muscles so they don’t contract. Botox blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing your normal facial expression to be unaffected.

Chemical Peels have are used to create an even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. Each year thousands of chemical peels are performed in the United States. A chemical peel uses a solution applied to the skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new skin cells. Chemical peels are used to tighten skin, reduce wrinkling and restore a more youthful appearance.

Dysport is for adults who want a natural look, not the “frozen look”. Dysport is a prescription injection proven to help smooth the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Untreated muscles still work normally, so you can continue to express feelings naturally. We prescribe it to minimize the lines on your face, not your expressions.

Scars form as part of the skin’s healing process whenever multiple layers of skin are injured. The injury may be the result of an accident, surgery, a burn or even severe acne However, unsightly scars can present problems for men, women and children. Scars  are generally considered unsightly, disfiguring and unacceptable by many people. But they can be treated.

Today’s new light and laser technology delivers precise dosages of energy to each vein, with a minimal risk to the skin. During these treatments, light energy is delivered through a special handpiece to the targeted vein. The energy is then absorbed by the blood vessels. The heat/energy absorption causes a the  hemocoagulation (clogging) of the blood vessel. The clogged vessel is then slowly absorbed by the body.

FRAXEL resurfacing is performed by Dr. Ehrlich to dramatically improve skin texture, smooth out acne scars, improve pigmentation problems such as melasma and brown spots, and reduce fine to moderate lines and wrinkles in just a few treatments with minimal or no downtime.

Using the Fraxel Laser we can stimulate regeneration of the deeper collagen and elastin tissues while resurfacing about 20% of your skin’s surface with each treatment. The Fraxel Laser remodels the collagen within the skin without harming your skin’s surface, while producing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin with minimal or no downtime.

IPL Photo Facials are  performed by Dr. Ehrlich to combat the effects of aging and damaged skin in a softer, gentler way. The redness and flushing of rosacea can be reduced 80 – 90 percent. It can be used to treat the full face, neck, chest and even the hands.

Using our advanced IPL system, Dr. Ehrlich gently delivers precise amounts of light energy through your skin’s surface. The energy is delivered at specific settings for each treatment to maximize your results. Treatments are spaced at 3 week intervals.

Laser Skin Resurfacing is performed to remove superficial wrinkles around the eyes, lips, forehead and cheeks seen in aging skin. Facial scars and sun-damaged skin are also excellent candidates for this treatment.

Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth are removed, while the deeper frown lines and grooves are softened. Once the outer layer of skin has been removed, the new skin beneath reveals a softer, smoother, more youthful appearance. Many patients say our laser can erase up to ten years in a little more than an hour.

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs.

Our medical lasers provide safe and effective non-surgical treatment option for the removal of spider and varicose veins. They deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein. During your treatment, light energy is delivered through a special laser handpiece to the targeted vein, in a series of brief pulses. The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissue. This heat absorption causes a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by your body.

Micro-Needling is a minimally invasive treatment that transforms the look and feel of damaged skin to smoother, cleaner healthier looking skin. It involves a small device that penetrates the skin creating controlled micro-dermal injuries. This stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin which in turn fills these imperfections, thus improving skin texture and firmness. While Micro-Needling alone will stimulate collagen, your doctor may choose to add cosmeceuticals, stems cells, or growth factors to further enhance cell rejuvenation.

Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear as the underlying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out. While this breakdown is part of the natural aging process, it can also result from excessive squinting, frowning and smiling.

Treatments with Restylane® and Perlane®  help patients meet their goals without fear of an allergic reaction. This natural, synthesized and fully degradable hyaluronic acid that forms both Restylane and Perlane has been used for over twenty-five years.

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are those tiny purple and red blood vessels found most commonly on the thighs or lower legs of women. They are hereditary and can form anywhere on the leg, from the top of the thigh to the ankle. Occasionally, spider veins appear on the face.

A simple office procedure called Sclerotherapy is performed by our doctor for patients in our region to permanently eliminate or minimize your spider veins and varicose veins.

Skin Tightening is a a non-invasive procedure used to tighten or lift sagging skin. The procedure is non-surgical and uses safe, infrared light or radio frequency to cause the collagen in the skin’s dermis to contract and tighten. It can be used in all areas of the body where tighter skin is desired. The deep heating of the skin causes some immediate contraction of the collagen and additional improvement over the next 3-6 months.

If you have been troubled by loose or sagging facial skin but are not ready for surgery, Ultherapy can help.

We are one of the first practices in the area to offer the exciting new Ultherapy, non-surgical lifting procedure performed with time tested, safe, ultrasound technology. Ultherapy gradually tightens and tones your skin from deep within the skins collagen. Ultherapy treatments take less than an hour – and have NO DOWNTIME.  When the treatment is finished,  you’ll be well on your way to tighter, firmer, better-fitting skin.

Nothing is quite as beautiful as soft, smooth, healthy-looking skin.

Our Vbeam laser treatments are performed to safely, easily, and effectively treat many skin disorders painlessly, on an out-patient basis. Vbeam treatments are safe and effective with little if any pain, no needles for most patients, less bruising and swelling and once removed, lesions do not return.

You wake up one morning and look in the mirror. Suddenly, you start noticing the development of facial lines and wrinkles.

Over the last thirty years dozens of filler products have been developed. We use the ones we feel provide the best results. The injections are placed within or beneath your skin where your body accepts it as its own. By supplementing your skin’s own collagen with injectable fillers, wrinkles and most scars are improved. Wrinkle filler injections improve the appearance of deeper frown lines, folds around the nose and lips, as well as refill the hollows under the eyes, temples, and brows.
